On November 15, 2005, the Greater New York Hospital Foundation held the Sixteenth Annual Symposium on Health Care Services in New York: Research and Practice.
The keynote address was given by James B. Conway, who is Senior Fellow of the Institute for Health Care Improvement and Senior Consultant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Mr. Conway lecture focused on successful patient safety improvement efforts at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the ongoing research being performed in this area. The Symposium also featured concurrent morning sessions on insurance coverage initiatives in other states and palliative care research, and concurrent afternoon roundtable sessions on program evaluation and hospital performance measurement. The Symposium also included a lunchtime poster session highlighting innovative programs and research in the New York City region.
The Posters Session featured posters that reflect the diverse program evaluation and research activities occurring in the metropolitan New York region. The posters selected for display cover such topics as the benefits of computerized physician order entry systems, frequency of HIV testing, disparities in health outcomes and other issues facing immigrant populations, and pain management and palliative care. These posters are available for viewing.
